For fifty-one years, Northcott Neighborhood House has convened the Juneteenth festivities, Freedom Ball and the Celebrate Culture Jazz & Blues Summer Concert Series. Every year, more than 50,000 people pack city blocks in Milwaukee to enjoy one of the largest, and longest running Juneteenth celebrations in the country. This year we celebrate 52 years of bringing families together through food, music, art, and education. Our theme is: "I am Juneteenth." From the farmer in rural Wisconsin, to the fourth-generation business owner in the heart of Milwaukee. We are all Juneteenth and invite people from allover to join this historical commemoration. For the third year in a row, NBC affiliate TMJ4 News will broadcast the parade, where more than 10,000 people are expected to watch on-air and online. The event takes place on Monday, June 19th. Highlights of the day-long celebration include: Morning parade with more than 100 participants, including the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers and Marquette Men's Basketball Team Over 300 vendors with delicious food from the soul food, vegetarian to the Caribbean cuisines Art, dance and music from different genres all gathered on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Concert series featuring local artists like NuBlu Band, Ivan Sign and Milwaukee's Eddie Butts Band through- out the summer Veteran's Zone to honor those who serve and have served in our military Kid's Zone for children to play while parents attend the festivities Teen Zone for young adults to compete in basketball and double-dutch games, and share their poetry Senior Zone with a shaded tent for people to rest, enjoy music, dance and hydrate The Freedom Ball is a fundraising event to provide scholarships for young African-Americans through the Miss & Mister Juneteenth and Little Miss & Mister Juneteenth Junior pageant. It is an evening of presentation of the Juneteenth Scholarship Winners & their Court, highlighting culture, celebration of history, dance, art and presentation of the "Because of Them" Award Honorees. As a non-profit organization, we rely on individual donors and organizations to sponsor this important event. This year, we've put together packages for different levels of sponsorship. There are opportunities to add your company logo to our website, on parade signage, and at various locations throughout the Juneteenth Day celebration. Please join us in making everyone proud as we celebrate the 52nd Annual Juneteenth Day Parade and Celebration, Freedom Ball and get your official Milwaukee Juneteenth t-shirt.
